These motors have been designed by Weston UK’s Alan Greenfield who was the designer at EDs in the early 70s responsible for the ED Super Hunter, Super Otter, Viking Mk II, Sea Lion, the ED AMC carb as well as a range of anti cavitation marine props. After acquiring EDs in 1986 no real development went on with the engines apart from an air-cooled version of the Super Hunter. Recently it was decided to update the ED diesel range by using crankcases and other parts from our high performance West motors and converting them to diesel – hence the name ED BY WEST.
All engines are test run at the factory to assure good performance and every motor leaves here with the compression and needle valve settings as test run.
